Dancers turned Celebrity

What’s Crackin?

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend filled with good food, good friends, and good holiday shopping! This weekend I went to Big Bear California. It’s about a 2 hour drive from Hollywood up in the mountains and it’s very cold compared to LA. Many people go there to ski and snowboard in the winter. I have a cabin up there so it’s cool to go up and get out of the city for some rest and relaxation. Then I went and saw the movie “This Christmas” featuring Chris Brown, Keisha Queen, Columbus Short etc. It was a really good movie and it was cool to see my boy Columbus starring in another great movie. He was in Stomp the Yard as the lead actor and I was a dancer . That wasn’t the first time me and Columbus worked together. We used to dance for Marcus Houston a couple of years ago. Yea I bet you didn’t know that Columbus was a backup dancer first before his acting career took off. It’s really cool to know someone before they hit the big time. A lot of celebrities use dance as an avenue for many other thing such as acting producing etc… there are many famous people who started out dancing. Here are a few of them for you to check out.

It was when 2pac met Shock-G, the leader of Digital Underground, the Oakland-based crew decided to hire him as a dancer and roadie, and as he toured with the group, he worked on his own material.

Jennerfer Lopez Lopez got a big Hollywood break as a fancy-footed Fly Girl on the Wayans brothers’ hit Fox comedy show In Living Color, soon graduating to dramatic roles on TV’s Second Chances and South Central.

From the age of six, Campbell trained as a dancer, earning a place with the National Ballet School of Canada when she was just nine years old.

choreographer/Actor Columbus Short made his film debut as a dancer in the 2004 breakdancing movie “You Got Served,” and this led to the role of Hands in the college comedy film “Accepted.” Columbus is best known for being the choreographer for the Britney Spears’ “In the Zone” tour, and in 2004 he was nominated for an American Choreography Award.

As an incomparable choreographer whose dance abilities has blessed such artists as Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and N-Sync, it was dance that started Darrin’s career leading to his fame by playing Lem Van Adams on the hit Showtime series “Soul Food”.

Carmen appeared as a dancer in Prince’s Glam Slam Clubs and also performed in front of the October 28 1996 MTV Rock N’ Jock B-Ball Jam audience.

There are many other celebrities that started out as dancers on the way to their big break. It just goes to show you, follow your passion and your bliss and doors will open that will lead to bigger things than you could even imagine!
