According to ShawnByfield “learning to dance is a sure-fire way to attract the opposite sex” a leading expert in dance instruction for adults in Canada. Besides the obvious ability to show off your new dance moves, learning to dance comes with many other romantic benefits. Here’s Byfield’s top 10 tips explaining why dancers make better lovers:

1.) Better Rhythm: Hearing the rhythm of the music directly translates into keeping a better rhythm between the sheets. Women appreciate men who can keep a constant rhythm, which leads to a big… well, you know.

2.) Better Confidence: Learning to dance improves your confidence on and off the dance floor. The #1 most attractive trait about a partner is their confidence level. Boldly use your moves to sweep your partner off the dance floor and bring them… somewhere more private.

3.) Better in Bed: This goes without saying. Watching your partner move well on the dance floor is subconsciously a very sexy indicator of how well they’ll partner with you under the covers.

whats cracking everybody

I tried to write this post yesterday but my dumb butt erased it. so i have to do it again!

Yesterday was a great day. I woke around 10am and decided to run. I’m new to running so i didn’t run far just a about 4 blocks and 4blocks back. I know your saying that that’s not far at all but if you live in California the blocks are long. So I ran and it felt good. I don’t know why I’m running because I get all my cardio in when I teach my hip hop dance class but something is telling me that I need to add running to the list. After running I came back to the studio and me and my wife started working on setting up this blog that you know see in front of you. I would like to say thank you for taking your time out and reading this post. I’m new to the blogging so it is taking me all day to figure somethings out. Then around 5 o’clock I get a call and when I tell you who it was your not going to believe me, but here goes. It was Omarion. He wanted to come to my studio Ography and session up. When we say session up we mean practice dance. Omarion is a Dope dancer and he likes to practice at my studio Ography from time to time. I know you might be saying yea right Omarion didn’t come to your studio. So I added these pics as proof. Wait, before I get to the pics let tell you who else came. I know y’all know the who the King of Krump is Lil C. Yup! Lil C came through as he brought Miss Prissy the Queen of Krump and Duece the Prince of Krump. Oh my God it was off the chain in here! The session lasted until like 1am. I know you want to see the pics so here they go. If you like what you see please feel free to leave me a comment.

Why I Dance…

what’s crackin?

So today I was asked the Question Why do I dance? So I thought that I would share my answer with you. Here goes.

Why do I dance?

I dance because it feels good to my soul. I think that inside my soul is extremely happy to be on this earth in this body that all it wants to do is dance with it. I kind of think that all of our souls are very happy to be here so dancing is a way to express that happiness. Just look at an infant. They love to dance, it’s automatic that they dance. Even in the mother’s womb the fetus moves around when music is playing. The baby is so excited to be on this earth that it just wants to dance. i feel that everybody is a dancer no one is really better than the next. We all have our own rhythm and unique way of expressing the love for the physical part of us.

Another reason why I love to dance is cause it is a good release for whatever feeling that I have inside. I can be happy and I can be sad, angry scared or anxious. No matter what I’m feeling dance helps me release it.

I also love to dance because it gives me confidence in my everyday life. It’s almost like going to the gym.You know how if you go to the gym and afterwards you feel like you can conquer anything but if you don’t go to the gym you feel like shit. well that’s what dance does for me it make me feel like I can conquer anything.

Dancing also connects me to the higher source. When I’m freestyling and I reach the point where I’m in a zone I feel spiritually connected. I feel like heaven. I feel like I can fly. “I believe i can fly, i believe that i can touch the sky, think about it every night and day….” sorry my bad LOL! But for real if you have never felt this feeling please just turn on some music and dance and dance and dance you will start to feel it. It’s a feeling of pure bliss, love joy and pleasure. Go ahead lock yourself in a room turn on whatever music suites your vibe or the way your feeling and let go! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh what a feeling!!!!

I guess that is it. That is why I dance. So now you know why I dance so now why do you dance? let me know how dance makes you feel. Go ahead Leave me a comment

Top 5 Ways to Improve your Hip Hop Dance Skills

Hey what’s crackin everybody?

I’m just chillin here at my studio, Ography Dance Studio enjoying my day. A lot of my students have been asking me how they can get better or how long is it going to take them to improve? Well I’ve put together a list of the top 5 things you can do to improve your dance skills and get to your desired goals even faster. So here we go:

1) Take Dance Class-there is no magic pill that you can take before you go to sleep to wake up a great dancer. But one of the best ways to ensure your success is to get into class. The more you take class on a regular consistent schedule, the more results you will see. Your muscle memory, coordination, and confidence will all continually improve each time you come to class. A lot of people have trouble picking up and remembering choreography. The more frequently that you take class, and learn new choreography, the easier picking up the moves becomes. And remember, class is a time to learn. Don’t come to class thinking you have to be good already. This is the time to mess up, ask questions, and develop your skills. As you learn from different teachers you will start to pick up on their style of hip hop. Soon you will be able to execute the movements very similar to them. And it’s not what you are doing, but how you do it that counts.

2)Watch Other Dancers- This is so important when you are wanting to improve your skills. No matter what you are doing in life, if you want to reach the top, look to the ones at the top as your inspiration and learn from them. Buy DVD’s of great dance performances and dance movies and watch them over and over. When I wanted to learn how to pop I used to watch DVD’s of Poppin’ Pete all the time over and over. Ask yourself, what are they doing that makes them look so good? What elements are they adding that make them stand out? Watch music videos and live performances. You will start to pick up on the vibe that the dancers are giving off. [...]

A little more about me…

What’s cracking everybody

Today i just want to let you know a little more about me and a how i got this far.

I was born on Feb.26th, 1979 in Flint Michigan. This city may sound familiar to some… yeah that’s the same hometown of Michael Moore (Fahrenheit 9-11) . Now you see why I’m on the other end of the country in California. You may be wondering how I made it out and how I got to this point in my life and career.

Allow me to me explain. I have been dancing since the age of three, despite a short break at thirteen to pursue basketball and track. Surprisingly nothing made feel as fulfilled as dance, so shortly thereafter I was back in the studio. In my junior year attending Powers Catholic High I made up my mind deciding that I wanted to dance for a living. So I applied to Western Michigan University and followed in the foot steps of my older sister as dance major.

It was there that I gained an appreciation for other forms of dance like ballet, modern, jazz and choreography. In my junior year of college I received my call of destiny. A friend of mine from Flint was signed to Warner Bros. Records as a recoding artist, and they wanted me to go out on the road as a dancer! Here began my professional career!

I took a break from school to work on the first “Lil’ Bow Wow Scream tour”. This is where i meet B2k, LiL Zane and lil Bow Wow After the tour ended things only got better. Our next gig was to open up for the biggest boy band in the world (at the time) Ensync “No Strings Attached tour”. i couldn’t believe it. My dreams of touring around the country all came true in one summer. dancing on a stage in a stadium feel with people blow my mind and took my breath away every night. I loved every min. Ensync was amazing.
